INSTRUCTION
Where: Kilifi, Kenya
Project: Support for education
Purpose: Fight against educational poverty
Action: since 2019 we have launched an education support program aimed at children and young people in the Kilifi community.
Currently, the association supports 17 students, between primary and secondary schools, guaranteeing them access to education.
The school calendar is divided into 3 quarters and, at the beginning of each one, students have to face various expenses: the enrollment fee (variable based on the school and level of education), school supplies, uniforms, and, if necessary, canteen, transport or remedial courses.
Access to education remains a significant problem in the area, with only 13% of residents having completed secondary or higher education. The majority, 52%, have only primary education, while approximately 36% have received no formal education. (https://data.unicef.org/country/ken/#education).
